I didn't find the sexism embarassing. As [livejournal.com profile] infinitarian says, if it's based on the comedies of Plautaus than, if anything, the sexism is probably toned down. It's been a while since I studied Plautus, but his plays were pretty outrageous.

The stage production I saw (again, going back a few years) didn't seem embarassingly sexist to me, so, yeah, perhaps they took the mickey out of some of it.

Can you jog my memory, what exactly did you find embarassingly sexist about it?
