Sheer heaven: RTD vs Ian Levine (RTD wins) (major Doctor Who Season 3 SPOILER, minor Torchwood SPOILER)

Third one's friends-locked. (Is sad.)

The first one's a major-ish Who S3 spoiler. (I was spoiled for it already, so I didn't care myself.) How does one refer to Who S3 if one's Old Skool? Who Tenth Doctor S3?

. . . you don't promise people dribblegenic McGannage and not deliver! That's cruel.

Also I want to know how they administered pot to spiders. Were there tiny hookahs?

It said something about doping flies which they then fed to the spiders.

... I have no idea how they doped live flies. Presumably they dripped the substance on them or something.

Sunstone. creeping zombie jesus! the library at FIT had a couple of Soviet-era VCRs, each the size of a bar 'fridge. there were about a dozen tapes available, one of which was an early documentary on computer graphics. while i was pretending to study electronics in the 80s i'd go up there and watch it, and a brief twenty second excerpt of Ed Emshwiller's work was the highlight of the tape.

dribblegenic Paul McGann photo

Which I misread as drabblegenic Paul McGann photo. I was thus hoping to read a Kate Orman drabble about Paul, along with the no doubt luscious photo that inspired it.

Such disappointment when I got no drabble and no photo.

I am old skool, and one refers to it as "Season 3". If clarification is necessary, one calls it "Season 3 of the new show".

Sorry about the flock - I've stolen the snap and posted it!

Someone could make a few bucks by gathering up a bunch of ancient documentaries about CGI and computers generally, and releasing them on DVD. They'd be delightful.

The obscure film I crave the most is the experimental computer-animated short Metadata, which I watched pretty much every day for a year in the library during Year 5. The skool library had borrowed it, along with several other marvellous short films, from the NLA. To the best of my knowledge it's never been commercially released. It featured line drawings primitively morphed from one to another, to great effect.

[FIERCE SCOWL] Not on my watch, buddy! =>:o|

  (   =;o}   )

For some of us, Season 29 was the 2nd block of the New Adventures novels, and Chris Ecclestone starred in season 101, or season NW01, or season RTD-01, or just about any other prefix followed by "01".

On a forum a few years back, before the new series had begun to air, we were discussing a rather pissy news release that Ian Levine had made about the new series and how badly it was going to suck and destroy Doctor Who. We were all wondering just _why_ he was being like this, when I postulated that perhaps it was because he hadn't been asked to be the "continuity adviser" for the new series, or been able to wheedle his way in to the show's production somehow.

Oh poop... I'm going to be late for work, and I was supposed to be in early this morning!!!!
