Is "superagatory" like purgatory, only moreso?

I think it's for, like, Batman and Vigilante and stuff.

Are the regular Doctor Who comms so full of vindictive Bible-thumpers that we need a special one for pagans?

My two cents as an agnostic is that I like communities where everyone brings a different perspective and nobody's is considered 'central', but if there's a need for it, go nuts.

Would this be "for" pagans, or about pagan themes? Mythological and religious themes are always of interest, but I can't claim any degree of paganism myself.

Pagan themes, I guess - Doctor Who related stuff of interest to Pagans.

I'd be unlikely to contribute much - see my earlier comment about the most occult thing I possess being a mirror. In the bathroom. But I'd be very interested in reading it.

You can count me in for the forum which you should consider calling 'Witch House'! But I wonder if there's room for a recalcitrant ex-pagan eclectic Buddhist Tara devotee?

I would be interested in learning more about the various ways you deal with your diabetes and blood sugar (not Dr. Who realted, obviously), so if you're looking for another spin-off LJ to form, there is my suggestion. Some place maybe to share your recipes, or a diet plan you follow, what works well for you, etc., in a more focused forum. It may be helpful for you as well; other people can share with _you_ what's worked for them.

I'd like to see this mainly because I think I should control my blood sugar more closely, and I'm not sure where I should start. And while I know the obvious place would be with my personal physician, my last physical and blood work cost me $600, so I'm not in a hurry to just swing by for some questions. Unfortunately, that was the bill after my insurance kicked in, too. I'm also not sure what I should be looking signs I need to look out for. I don't know what it feels like when my blood sugar gets low, or high, or what have you- I just what it feels like when I suddenly get really shakey and should eat something.

Egad. First of all, have you been diagnosed with diabetes, or do you have pre-diabetes or something like that?

The shakes are horrible. I've had 'em for years, long before I was diagnosed with diabetes - they were the first warning sign. A doctor put me on a low GI diet at that point, which helped stave off the actual diabetes for some years, and helps me control my blood sugar very well.

No, no diagnosis. And six months ago, all my blood tests were fine. That's why I've just figured I need to clean up my diet. You've mentioned your "low GI diet" a few times in your postings... I'm not even sure what that means, to be honest.

GI stands for "glycemic index". Foods with a high GI, such as bread and potatoes, cause your blood sugar to rise and drop sharply; foods with a low GI, such as multigrain bread and sweet potatoes, cause a slow and steady rise and fall, which is what you want.

By changing some of the high GI foods in my diet to low GI foods, I was able to stop getting the shakes; now I use it to help prevent my blood sugar from shooting up and down. The basic trick is to substitute low GI foods for high GI foods, and have one at each meal - that can be as simple as having your sandwich on rye/sourdough/multigrain bread instead of white.

There are a ton of books on this, and also lots of helpful info online:
