My veganwards slouching has not all been deprivation: I have rediscovered peanut butter and popcorn.

(Simple microwave popcorn, that is, not the awesome bucket of luxury that off_coloratura sent. :-)

I've shot the popcorn manufacturer an email to check on the trans fat content. But yeah, if I keep eating the stuff, I ought to be making it the old-fashioned way anyway. :-)

I'll give you an air popper if you want. I bought it ages ago, and never use it. I make mine on top of the stove. Heavy based pan, small amount of canola oil, heat. Lots of nice fluffy tasty popcorn. Add a little salt.

Now I'm hungry.

I just discovered the most fantastic vegan restaurant here in my hometown - and right dorn the street. It's Vietnamese, run by Buddhist nuns and deliciously delicious.

Being from this magical land where every restaurant offers vegetarian options and there is even a vegan Pirate themed restaurant, I often wonder if it's getting easier to find the delicious options in other parts of the world known for beef and BBQs, ham and fois gras, steak and kidney pie, etc. Mags says many veg options in England now, but when we were in Paris she was pretty much stuck with omelettes (except for the fabulous Vietnamese restaurant in the Montmarte.)

I'm not a vegetarian, I just like food.

The vegan Pirate restaurant or the Vietnamese restaurant run by nuns? These and hundreds more can be found in the beautiful Pacific Northwest city of Portland in the state of Oregon in the USA. Also, like Seattle, we have amazing coffee houses-NOT-Starbucks. And lots of trees, and curbside recycling. We're considering seceding from the Union:-)

However, both Kate and I are relly interesting in the vegan Pirate restuarant.

There was a bigger write-up of the Pirate's Tavern in the paper with pictures of bar wenches and everything but I don't have time this morning to look for it. I have not eaten at the Pirate's Tavern. Yet.
