The War of the Worlds concert RAWKED. Even the hilarious fighting machine prop, lowered from the ceiling in a moment of pure Spinal Tap; even Dick's head. Justin Hayward can still hit those high notes. Much audience appreciation of "Tracking Station 43 - Can Berra."

When he can fill a frickin' arena with it, I guess. The place was packed -- we were in nosebleed territory, looking down on the war machine. But Kate was eight years old throughout, so no complaints. :-)

I didn't realise he was Someone until he emerged and the audience went a bit silly. (Olds like me went a bit silly when Hayward came out to sing two lines. :-) I do worry that those who hadn't listened to the album 3896592365 times might not have been able to understand what he was singing, as he sounded as though he'd been gargling with steel wool.
