The pushmi-pullyu. As a small child I didn't grasp the pun and pronounced this "push-mipple-you". There was also a device in a Donald Duck comic called the "enlarging machine" which I called the "enargling machine".
ETA: Mum reckons I actually said "pushapummel". he he he

In order to get across the Orc Chasm to Beyond the Valley of the Orc Chasm one must get an abridged dictionary.
One then takes it to the Untinkerer, who produces from it a bridge and a dictionary. One then uses the former to cross the chasm and later uses the latter to cause "Spelling Damage" to 133t creatures.
Hilarity ensues.

Date: 2007-12-29 03:52 am (UTC)Same thing happened recently--I read the name "Kreatcher" in Harry Potter, and never realized that it was "creature" until I said it aloud in a conversation with someone.

Date: 2008-01-08 11:27 pm (UTC)Actually, OT, the only way I'd eat cabbage was if my mother shredded it and mixed it into mashed potatoes. I could never understand why my friends' mothers' mash never had long stringy green bits in it.
