ianto is kicking some serious butt this series. and oddly enough, it's never felt like, 'omg he's a whole different person'...as the firefox reviewer kind of says, to me it feels more like, 'this is what he would have been like last series if he'd gotten more screentime (and hadn't been mourning his freaky dead metropolis-esque girlfriend).'

IIRC the commentary on Day One says that a bunch of his funny lines were cut, with only a few surviving, such as the crack about how he used his eyes, which does seem to come out of nowhere in the final version - it'd make more sense if he was basically MSTing the others the whole time.
