Eh, their business, as brewsternorth says, is to capture attention. When the truth isn't sexy enough in their opinion, a "close enough" falsehood is sometimes employed. It's reprehensible and sophomoric, and spanking such behaviour is an editorial responsibility. Sadly, even the big dogs in the media business these days aren't are well behaved as they ought.
