I can't believe I made it through April without buying any books or music. (I cheated and grabbed some DVDs on Tuesday. :-) Slowly I bring the bibliomania under control. Except for the part where today I bought my first yaoi manga, selected pretty much at random. (Actually, Greg already gave me a couple, but this is the first time I've spent money on one.) Anyway, it's set in a school, so it can't be too hardcore, ri - YIKES

Eee. What yaoi did you get?

Something called "Great Place High School". It's mostly these cute little four-panel chunks of story, each with its own title, involving a computer club and an improbable number of twins - suddenly interrupted by some fairly serious D/s in the tearoom. Blimey. I love the combination of filth and coyness - one rather decorous anus, but no penises, and an awful lot going on out of shot. Not knowing the conventions, I often couldn't quite work out exactly what went where. *blush*

I'm dying to know, what did you end up with?

(Sadly that company has sent me no more yaoi manga to review or I'd send you some more! But if you come across it, I was actually rather impressed with the four-volume Antique Bakery manga.)

What did you send her, Greg?

Been a lot of changeover in the US companies lately; ping me about hooking you back up with the right people, if you're interested.

I have no idea what it was! I'd gotten a huge box of books from DMP and I think Kate and/or I may have randomly reached in and grabbed a few. :)

*makes mental note of the name*

I grabbed something called "Great Place High School" - check out my summary of it elsewhere in the comments here. :-)

I can recommend some stuff based on its popularity.

Personally? I recommend DEATH NOTE, though there's no yaoi in it. Certainly one can imagine (and sadly I've seen but not read) endless shippiness in it. I also enjoy BLEACH though it's becoming a bit "endless fight scene plus new character's lenghty backstory" these days.

Among our membership, GRAVITATION has been a popular title, and we had the manga-ka as a guest last year. I've also generally liked the Rurouni Kenshin saga but that's 27 or 28 volumes.

The library has Death Note. Between your recommendation and this fandomsecret, I have to read it now. :-)

XD I'm really glad I didn't have a mouthful of Pepsi when I hit that sentence. Near thing, though. ;)

I really did make that assumption, got it out on the bus, and put it away again in a hurry. Man. This place makes Harry Potter look like a children's series! Erm...
