Last night, somewhere between waking and sleeping, my brain coughed up the answer to a Strange Flesh plot problem which has been driving me nuts. Thanks, brain!
Thankfully, you remembered it. I can't count the number of times I've woken up in the middle of the night with an epiphany that was gone by morning, sadly.
I've tried writing them down at times, and if I can still remember what it was by the time I find the light, my glasses, the pen, the paper ... it usually is a meaningless scrawl when I look at it in the morning, lol.
Oh gawd, yes, the curse of all writers. I sometimes make up a mnemonic to try and help me remember in the morning, then wake up remembering the mnemonic but having no clue what the hell it means.
Homer: "Listen brain, I don't like you, and you don't like me, but help me out this one time and I can get back to killing you with alcohol." Homer's Brain: "It's a deal!"
Maybe you should buy a dictaphone and keep it by the bed? Might be a worthwhile investment.
