I need the Canadian equivalent of Britpicking! :D

Would a Canadian say "skint" when they mean "broke, penniless, lacking in funds?"

An English-speaking Canadian would most likely say "broke."

A fair number of Canadians would understand what skint means, thanks to the popularity of British TV shows here, but you wouldn't hear many people say it. I've lived in eastern, central, and western Canada, and "broke" would be used and understood in all those areas. Wouldn't surprise me if there are some regional slang terms, especially in places like Newfoundland, not to mention new youth slang terms, but broke is a safe choice.
