Steady now: you know this is a perfectly natural response to your actually getting somewhere. P'rhaps try writing 1,000 words of something absolutely new. That should shock you into a fresh appreciation of what you have achieved.

In the meantime, should I keep an event in Chapter 4 that feels extraneous to the character but makes structural sense?
