Still want to cling to David Tennant's leg and beg him not to leave the TARDIS. Haven't felt this way about a Doctor since Tom Baker.

cheeky monkey

I want to write something that makes people feel the way I felt when I watched that. I'm not sure this is technically possible outside the television serial format, what with the actors (my gods, the actors!) and the years of built up meaning, but gods I'm gonna give it a try.

I'm just theorising; who knows how RTD's mind truly works?

This is based on the little chat the Doctor and the Master had which ended with the Doctor hearing the drums in the Master's brain and the Master shouting, "It's real!".

I think the whole of the Time Lord race has been hidden away somehow in the Master's mind/brain before they made him regress to a baby and fobwatched him, hence Yana's and later the Master's problems with the "drums" (lotsa Time Lord hearts beating at once) and madness where once an evil, yet sane mind dwelled.

Of course, something went wrong and the Time Lords have turned rather mad themselves while residing in the Master's brain in the form of 007. I always knew James Bond was a Time Lord.

Turning all of humanity into the Master-race (nice pun there) was merely the first step. The second step is downloading the Time Lords into the little Masters, making the Master the catalyst of the return of the Time Lords.

Unless of course that has already happened, and we will see changes in the Master-clones.

... or I could be utterly wrong, of course. :D

Damn good theory.

I'm not sure how the renewed heavy hints about Donna fit into it though. First it was "Donna, the Temp" aka "the Temp Donna". Now it's "Noble-Temple?"; "No, Temple-Noble".

So *maybe* they're all hiding out inside Donna...

...Or just maybe, there's *one* Time Lord/Lady hiding out inside Donna; One who's opposed to the other TLs' plans and waiting for the moment to spring out and help stop them. (Notice how it was all blokes hanging out with "Rassilon... James Rassilon..."!)

Someone for whom latinate name-hints would be appropriate, perhaps. As in, "The noblest Roman(a) of them all"...? =:o}

(Hmmm. Who *is* that mysterious disappearing prophetess who speaks to Wilf at the start, and appears on his TV screen?)

Oh, hang on, waitaminnit...

What if Donna/Romana's role isn't to stop the TLs... Maybe it's to stop the Doctor screwing things up? Like she said from the first: "You need someone to stop you." (Going with the theory that fobwatched TLs' human personas unconscioulsy express the character/intentions of their buried TL selves.)

Why *has* Donna's mum always been such a cow to her? Is she herself just subliminally aware that Donna is not really her daughter, and resentful of that? And did part of that cow-ishness take the form of never actually telling Donna about the "heirloom" that had been left to her...?

And where does Wilf fit in? Appointed guardian of the vulnerable human host? Person charged with esnuring she and the Doctor are together in the right place at the right time?

[GLARES AT CALENDAR STILL READING "28/12/09"] Hurry up!!! =8o[

Oh yes, the mysterious prophetess... I hope she is a certain Time Lady, that would be marvellous - but for the fact that no female Time Lords have yet been shown or hinted at (except for the two kneeling ones in the last scene and the one in the preview, and they don't strike me as very Ladylike).

Donna is a good enough character not to need a Time Lord persona except for the DoctorDonna. ;) But you're right, she is needed to stop the Doctor - and Wilf, he is important, and I hope they tell us why.

Sometimes, time just stands still, doesn't it!

I think you're right. I think that's pretty obviously it, from what we've seen so far, including the Next Time previews.

The question now is, rather, is that a good thing?

For the record: I had the same idea after seeing the 2nd preview. Makes a hell of a lot of sense; the Time Lords know that if anyone'll survive, it's him.

Although I'm not so sure about the Master-clones downloading part...but it is RTD. God bless 'em, the boy makes a hash of plotting and then some.

It makes me laugh to think of them telling him, "O hai, we resurrected you because we knew you'd be the perfect warrior for the Time War." And him preening while they titter behind their sleeves. >:)

Cracktastic! Nightmare funny.

After a Christmas romp full of action and insanity (and cheeky remarks about stuffing ourselves on a Pagan holiday, lol) I'm expecting the sequel to settle down into some very srs business. That very last image of the Doctor in the trailer for part 2 gives me chills.

OMGWTFBBQ.

Seeing that character in those costumes reminded me of a certain scene in the 3rd Harry Potter book.

Also. I giggled during the opening credits. ;)

I need to watch it again. Watching with two hyperactive kids and two chatty adults in the house was not exactly conducive to proper attention paid to things.
