Vale Alistair Cook
Apr. 2nd, 2004 01:54 pmI will bloody miss Letter from America. I didn't listen to it regularly, but whenever I caught it, it was funny, intelligent, and helped me get a better grip on world affairs.
I'll never forget the one about strained American-British relations post Iraq: Mr Cook described the taking of the President's home during the war of 1812 by arrogant Brits who ate the dinner abandoned by the fleeing inhabitants, then burned the place to the ground. "We got over that," Cook said drily, "and we'll get over this."
