Sign language
Jan. 5th, 2005 08:49 amThanks heaps to everyone who suggested ways of indicating signing (this is for Strange Flesh, btw). At the mo I've gone for the simplest possible thing, just presenting it in quotes as though it's spoken language ('Pippin is so cute,' she signed). I may need to change that if it gets confusing, so I'm very pleased to have various suggestions on hand! Ta folks!
On a wholly unrelated note, I'm now listening to the 7" E Smoove Mix of Liberation by Pet Shop Boys, and for the first time can see the relationship between the remix and the actual song. (The version on Disco II bears no resemblance at all!)
On another wholly unrelated note, I read the first chapter of River of Gods by Ian McDonald in Borders yesterday, on the recommendation of New Scientist. It was quite well written, if over-crammed with scenery, but concluded with the sexualised murder and mutilation of a woman. Yawn. This isn't a book review, as I haven't read the book. Nor will I. This house is quite crammed enough with unread tomes, and the news is quite crammed enough with the sexual victimisation of women, as it is.
