[livejournal.com profile] mrmateo, long banned from this journal, recently ranted that the anti-war women's organisation Code Pink had engaged in "treasonous antics" by donating $600,000 "to the Iraqi resistance". "Once upon a time we executed mutherfuckers like this for this kind of bullshit... nowadays it seems the current administration has forgotten there is a law against this sort of thing... Seems to me giving $600,000 USD to people fighting against our armed forces to make it financially possible to continue to kill them falls under that category [treason]."

A quick visit to Code Pink's Web site gives a possible explanation for Bush's failure to hang the activists. "Your donations provided thousands of cold, grieving refugees, especially children, with blankets, sweaters, heaters, portable stoves, clean water and antibiotics." Some of the supplies were delivered by the families of soldiers killed in the war or on 9/11. If any of the refugees have attacked Coalition soldiers, perhaps by squirting water at them, this is not mentioned.

([livejournal.com profile] mrmateo also reports on a claim that Code Pink activists pinched a counter-protest sign and were made to give it back by a police officer. Whether he thinks the death penalty should also apply to this rather silly incident is not clear.)

Overall, two reponses come to mind:

- Incestuous amplification is a bad for you.
- The Internet is a superb way of efficiently spreading bullshit, but unfortunately, it's also a superb debunking resource.
