I blush to admit the existence of [livejournal.com profile] ormans_blue_box. The ever enthusiastic [livejournal.com profile] outsdr set it up to contain his comments on Blue Box, but it occured to me that if anyone has any comments or questions about my various Who scribbles, or perhaps about writing in general, that might be a good place to post them. (There's still quite a bit of writing info at my effectively defunct Yahoo! group, lemniskate.)

I've spent the entire last week trying to catch up on everything that was neglected during the final rewrites on our Benny novellas. Laundry has been done, errands have been run, much of the kitchen has been unearthed. I've managed to answer some of my email backlog, but there are still several important messages left to go. [livejournal.com profile] stephanielake, I swear I'll get back to you about that article. HarangueMan, I am printing out your novel sample even as I type this. Your forebearance is much appreciated, folks.

FINALLY got my paws on Bleak House, and have just been ravished by episode one. Guppy is a work of genius; the proposal scene is like the one in Pride and Prejudice played for comedy. I bet he goes evil though. Gillian Anderson is the American Hugh Laurie, ie, her accent is so good that I didn't even recognise her. Actually, the entire cast is driving me insane, as every time a new face appears on screen I'm sure I've seen them in something else. Lots of Timelash connections, of course.

This is fascinating: Working Assumptions For White Activists On Eliminating Racism: Guidelines For Recruiting Other Whites As Allies. (Briefly, you assume that other White people are honourable and motivated by good will, rather than being judgemental or superior.)

Something which caught my eye: the author, Ricky Sherover-Marcuse, recommends recognising the oppression of white ethnic groups. This puzzled me for a moment, because I know it can irritate people of colour when, discussing racial issues, a white person shifts the spotlight away onto such oppression. Then I realised that she's referring to white people talking to other white people, not interracial dialogue; that context shifts the meaning, in somewhat the same way that it's different if Jon tells a Jewish joke, I tell a Jewish joke, or Imus tells a Jewish joke.
