Are more of these maggots dropping out at the moment, or are we just more likely to notice them? Back in my Usenet days, I was infuriated by the Internet's ability to spread bullshit far and wide, but in recent years its lie-killing power has become noticeable. This could be a similar phenomenon - now, when some idiot politician or preacher makes an idiotic public statement, it's really public. Dragged out into the light for all to see.
