Asylum seekers could be deported to Nauru 'within days': Immigration Department secretary (ABC, 8 February 2016)

Queensland, South Australia, Tasmania, and the ACT have all joined Victoria and NSW in extending support to the asylum seekers in danger of being returned.

Asylum seekers to be returned to Nauru suffering from cancer and terminal illnesses (SMH, 8 February 2016) Immigration Department head Michael Pezzullo stated that returns would be on a case-by-case basis, not all at once. He also stated that media reports of a five-year-old boy being raped were a distortion of some sort of indecent assault of a child over ten by another child. Wow, that's a relief.

So all bar one mainland state/territory government has volunteered to step up and catch the ball that the national government has cast aside? That's mind-boggling! Get these state level officials to the national government ASAP!
