- Rather wonderfully, Sarah's disbelieving laugh has become a laugh of joy.
- God tries to do a bit of family reconciliation between the rival sons and their mums, promising each a good fate. Abraham seems to take this as an excuse to boot out his awkward concubine and her awkward offspring. Hagar moving away from her son so that she can die without having to watch him die too is profoundly sad. Luckily God comes to the rescue. He must be getting pretty tried of Abraham's tricks by now.
