From
_grayswandir_'s indignant review of The Passion of the Christ:
"Clearly, suffering massive blood loss and severe torture does not result in unconsciousness followed shortly by death. At least, not in Mel Gibson's sadistic universe. Sucks to be Jesus."
Gibson's been reading h/c eh. (Seriously. Same dynamic.)
The review points out Biblical and historical inaccuracies in the film, before revealing that some fools took their three year old to see it, which was just plain mean of them.

I do recall hearing that, if this movie were about anyone but Jesus Christ, it would have been given an NC-17 rating for the brutality.
