Letter in today's Herald:
Peter Fyfe (Letters, December 14) says, "Anyone in possession of a Jane Austen novel must be in want of a life." True, Peter: a life which includes Mr Darcy.
Pamela Chippindall, Point Piper, December 14.

Seth Richardson (Letters, December 16) asks what Mr Darcy has that any Aussie male hasn't. Pemberley and lots of money.
Kathleen McIntyre, Armidale, December 16.
Oh, Seth Richardson, where do we begin? Mr Darcy has passion, charm, strength, values, charisma, loyalty and intensity. And, when played by Colin Firth, he is the sexiest man alive.
Frances McCunnie, Marsfield, December 16.
Seth, you weren't paying attention during chapter three. Mr Darcy has 10,000 a year.
Peter Fyfe, Lavender Bay, December 16.
Mr Darcy, in contrast to the ponces and fops around him, was a genuine, red-blooded man - much like many Aussie men, undoubtedly yourself included, Seth. My four-year-old son Darcy, very much an Aussie bloke in the making, was named in tribute.
Sophie York, Sydney, December 16.
Try good manners.
Ian Cheesman, Port Macquarie, December 16.
