81% of Australians believe "a woman should have the right to choose whether or not she has an abortion". Very, very interesting article about a report on the attitudes of citizens and politicians and how they've changed in the past three decades.
A report from late last year on lies about condoms spread worldwide by the Vatican, which stated that both sperm and HIV can pass through condoms. Good grief, chaps, if contraception is wrong, but condoms don't stop sperm anyway, why do you object to them? One health worker in Africa couldn't distribute condoms because of church opposition; a nun advised an HIV+ man not to use condoms with his wife. These lies mean uncounted deaths, sickness, misery, and poverty. I'd like to find out if the Vatican has done anything to correct this in the last twelve months.

Date: 2004-12-15 11:23 pm (UTC)Considering they've yet to own up to any sort of culpability regarding the conduct of their priests in all the various molestation scandals surrounding the various dioces' (sp), I really really rather doubt it.
And remember folks, poverty is a virtue. Mother Theresa said so.
