US - Pharmacies refusing to supply contraception

Pro-Choice Customers Strike Back - strategies to make sure you get your prescription filled.

Avoid Walgreens, as they allow their pharmacists to refuse to dispense medicines they object to.

Avoid Wal-Mart; they don't stock emergency contraception.

But CVS will fill all prescriptions according to their fax to PPFA (PDF file at the Save Roe site.)

Food for thought:

Katha Pollitt nails the "culture of life" in Virginity or Death!

The Foreign Language of Choice suggests reframing the debate in terms of "personal freedom, zero tolerance for unwanted pregnancies, taking back life as a value, and protecting rape victims".

Re: "The Foreign Language of Choice" article ... It might be just me ... or it might be just me at nearly 3 am ...

But as someone who works with women who either have children or choose to have a termination, I am thoroughly sick of this paraphrasing debate. Something either is, or it isn't, and if it offends their sensibilities then they can call it something else.

Calling abortion something other than abortion does not change what it is or why women choose to do it (there's another dirty word ..."choose"). I thoroughly agree with this article's analysis of the pussyfooting that's run rampant in this pro-life/pro-choice arena.

If you're going to sling mud, call it mud. And if you're going to try and stop women from having the right to choose whether they have a baby, then I will call it a violation of rights.

Like it or not, women in this country have the right to choose whether they want to have a baby ... they should also have the right to access appropriate contraception to ensure they don't end up faced with an unwanted pregnancy.

Educate your children. Provide access to contraception. Be responsible with your sexuality ... and barring acts of violence such as rape, or divine intervention, fewer women will have to walk in and explain to me why they want an abortion.
