Perhaps fandom will be like, intelligent. Someday.
Wait, I get you. You're hinting that a segment of fandom think that all black women are like all other black women.
I suspect she'll wind up being more like Anji (in concept, at least) -- an intelligent, professional, modern woman. She seems to have the sort of face that lends itself to that kind of role, rather than "sassy". Roz always seemed to me to be a bit of a hardass.

It's a failure of the imagination more than anything else, fuelled by a lack of variety in TV characters. I have been guilty of exactly the same failure in the past, so can hardly gloat.
That said, my favourite was a comment somewhere which suggested Martha might perhaps be like Roz or Zoe off Firefly. Now superficially they are similar - businesslike warriors - but Zoe has a sense of humour, is two decades younger, married a White guy, and can shoot straight.
I find that suggestion weird, because there's not really much similarity. One looks happy and smiley, the other looks... like a cynical person with a large gun.
I know it's only a publicity photo, but that's my point. There's no way of knowing what she'll be like, and comparing her to another woman who looks vaguely like her?
From that argument, I could have said that Rose was going to be like Romana, because they're both young and blonde.

Perhaps Martha will be like Prof Ray Winstone!
What? They're both *human*, aren't they?
Oh, I see what you mean. Jury's still out on Winstone... =:o}

*I know how she fits into the Who 'verse, she just a big, empty, blank space beyond that.
