Somewhere, in something I've read, there's a bit where all these ballerinas show up to somebody's apartment for morning tea, and the author says something like: "Suddenly, it was May." tumblr is a bit like this. I'm twice the age of some these kids. What a pleasure to be communing with the future; they're keeping me young. My very favourite thing, though, is when they share their parents' reactions to their fandom, which are often very funny. This sort of thing.

ETA: I found the quote. "He had invited two of the dancers, but up the stairs came a bouquet of girls, more than a dozen of them. All at once it was the month of May in the dimmed room." Ludwig Bemelmans, Hotel Bemelmans, p 177.

on one hand? i'm envious--i have never had, nor could ever have that kind of fannish thing with my parents. otoh, i'm gleeful, 'cause i already have fannish moments with MY kids. they're just not particularly slash-related (yet).

Me and my mum have had numerous giggles over blokes we both fancy, which is brilliant. :) But there is nothing more wonderful than seeing parents and their kids at conventions, or movies or wherever. :D :D :D It's one of the marvellous things about the new Doctor Who, that grownups and kids can share it. (The same is true of Sherlock Holmes, thanks to the numerous versions - I have delicious memories of watching the slightly scary Basil Rathbone films on TV with my parents, and mum and I are both great Jeremy Brett enthusiasts.)
