Hee. Watching some Science Ninja Team Gatchaman with Jon and heard Tiny Ryu come out with a real life "Yatta!".

I so want to learn some Japanese. Any language which ends the sentence "I'm a trickster who doesn't know solitude" with the word "trickster" has to be worth investigating.

If you guys like Gatchaman I bet you'll LOVE sentai. It's the CRACKIEST THING IN THE UNIVERSE. It's Power Rangers in Japan; made there first and then remade into PR. But sentai is crackier and sillier and darker and funnier.

veoh.com and crunchyroll.com have entire series available to watch.

Suggest you have a look at Go-onger & Timeranger in particular. Go-onger's the current one and incredibly cracky. Timeranger's a lot more serious & was done in 2000.

omg that looks insane. THAT GUY HAS AN ACTUAL ANIME HAIRSTYLE. I didn't think those were possible under real-life gravity and atmospheric conditions. I will definitely check this out.

The other series are also slashy & hilarious but often a lot darker. I've cried at sentai many a time, don't think I've ever cried at Power Rangers!

Trivia time: three shows were gonna comprise the reworked anime dub called Voltron but they scaled back to two at the last minute, too late to stop all three sets of toys hitting the shops with the Voltron label.

Ooh! I used to LOVE Voltron.

Sentai's overtaken my love for it now, however, and I've tossed Voltron aside to lay in the dirty gutter of my subconscious.

voltron reminded me of speed racer, but as a teen i almost immediately forsook it for robotech, which had love triangles. when i finished taping all of robotech *that* was almost immediately unwatchable because the narrator is incredibly irritating when you know the plot.
