Egad - people keep trying to friend me on Facebook, and I only use it to keep track of far-flung family members (and a handful of others). tbh I seldom look at it and in fact don't read most of my friendses's entries. I need to hide myself in some fashion so people don't feel badly when I utterly fail to friend them!

Hey, how do you do privacy settings? I've been trying to arrange it so I don't get flooded by walls and addons from people I don't even know! :)

It's easier than I thought - there's a Settings link at top right, then you choose the Privacy section. All pretty self-explanatory.

Yeah, facebook actually has more privacy settings than you can shake a stick at, once you start poking around. Do turn off all ths stuff for applications -- there's a big hole even if you use minimal apps like me.

Facebook's wierd for me b/c it's the only place online where I am not anonymous, and I do deliberately have it up so that ppl can look me up who knew me long ago, etc. But it creates a disconnect, where everywhere *else* I am on the internet, I'm anonymous, except of fb. It's *weird*.

If you don't like the clutter from app updates, you can also get fbpurity which cleans them out. OTOH if you don't log in very often, probably not too much of an issue.

Heck, I've had a few friend requests show up in my email over the past few years (and I'm talking legitimate ones, not just the spam/phishing kind), and I don't even have a Facebook account.

Nor will I.
