The Flamingo Flame ... ?

Hee hee hee. I have Gatchman vol 1 and it's got awful English subtitles. (Not that you can't largely follow the story without them.) I'm currently watching The Phantom Boat From The Hell and wondering why the heck so much entirely innocent animation (Princess and Keyop Jun and Jinpei waterskiing, Jason Joe looking cool in shades, etc) was lopped out in favour of 7-fucking-Zark-7.

All I know is I'd rather watch Jinpei fall hilariously off his water skis ten thousand times rather than sit through Mark and Jason playing ping pong EVER AGAIN.

As I recall, the ping pong game was badly animated too! I mean, even as a 11 year old, I could tell it was a different set of animators that made that horrific piece of stock footage! :)
