Heh. Poking around the Daily Fail site in a search for Doctor Who photos, I found a give-the-governor-a-harumph piece titled "Mother sparks outrage by tweeting as rescue workers try to save dying two-year-old son". Panicking and desperate, I'd probably have reached out to friends and family too, through every medium - phone, email, lj. But naturally, the Fail's readers have been pouring out their bile about wasting time mucking about posting things on the Internet, which prompted a priceless comment: "What the hell are you all doing now?!!!!"

Someone on my flist provoked howls of outrage a few years back when they posted: "My Mum won't wake up. I'm sure she was still breathing when I took her a cup of tea earlier." These people have presumably never heard of displacement activity, or, more to the point, getting the fuck out of the way while medical professionals do their job.

*snork* yeah. how about those legitimate communication networks. not everybody lives in such small towns and limited social circumstances that everyone you know knows what happened before the ambulance even gets there, because your second cousin the dispatcher told them all.

i swear about a full 2/3rds of internet wank would go away if we did away with all the stupid that boils down to: "SOMEONE IS DOING SOMETHING DIFFERENTLY THAN ME AND THIS IS THREATENING!" *OUTRAGE.*
