Ishtar shrieked like a woman in childbirth,
the sweet-voiced Mistress of the Gods wailed...
How could I say evil things in the Assembly of the Gods,
ordering a catastrophe to destroy my people!
No sooner have I given birth to my dear people
than they fill the sea like so many fish!'

Watched the 12" of Return of the King until the wee hours with the excellent Todd. I think some sort of war was going on, but was so hopelessly distracted by the heart-twanging gorgeousness of Pippin that I 'm not really sure. Frodo became more and more beautiful in his suffering, like in the Mad magazine parody of Love Story, but this did not unglue my eyes from the Took. Anyway, happy new year everyone. My new year's resolution is to brush Frank more often to reduce the incidence of hairballs on the carpet.

Zine update

You guys are greased lightning! With everyone's offers, we already have enough material for Where the Sea's Asleep. (In fact, two of the articles are already drafted, I already have a drabble and a piece of art, and in fact I probably won't have to write anything myself!) That means that no-one should worry if they end up not being able to make the tight deadline - next Friday 7 January. NB: the correct word length for non-fiction is 700 words rather than 800.

The zine will be available by Friday 14 January. Contributors will, of course, be mailed a copy. I've already worked out the layout (equivalent to 4 A4 pages).

You can preorder right now if you wish. The price is $10 Australian or Canadian, $8 US, 4 pounds UK. I can accept Paypal (send payment to korman@spamcop.net), credit cards via Paypal, direct deposit (within Australia) and cheques and money orders in Australian or US funds (email me for info). I'll cover photocopying and postage, so every cent of the cover price will go to the Red Cross.

btw, no-one ought to feel they have to buy this zine. Not everyone will be interested, not everyone has money to spare, and a lot of people have given to charity already! I'll keep purchases confidential.

Forgot to thank everyone for the suggested planet names! More on that in a bit.

omg u r teh r0xx0r my lj frendz!!!
