I haven't read [livejournal.com profile] vintage_ads in a while. It's full of indescribable, eye-ball cooking seventies horrors, as well as unintentionally homoerotic army ads, excruciating racist ads (mostly for soap) and so on - but also occasional loveliness.

In other news:

My spies are everywhere

I didn't realise badgers were so squeezy.

Frank and Tim star in their own macros.

Julie Gardner: "I genuinely avoid going onto Web sites and reading the fan pages. Maybe when I am no longer working on the show I will take the time to do that, but I think there’s a responsibility when you are making a show like DOCTOR WHO to focus on the scripts and the talent that you are working with. You owe it to the team and actors that you are working with to be responsible; you need an authorial voice and that is for us defined by Russell T. Davies and the writers that come with him. I think if you get too embroiled into who likes what and who doesn’t; you dissipate your focus and it’s not a good way to run a show."

Saw Amazing Grace on my boss' recommendation. It's basically a sports movie, but looks great. Strangely, the two lines that have stayed with me were the former slave's description of being branded "so you know you no longer belong to God, but to a man", and the former slaver captain's expression of faith: "I know that I am a great sinner, and that Christ is a great saviour".

Just about to put Quiet Game into the drawer, probably until November, when I'll drag it out into the light for another squiz. It has so far failed to collapse in any major way, which is unusual for one of my novel proposal attempts. (Valiant Glamorous Things remains in the drawer, in a state of only partial collapse.)

I'm starting to feel like a real writer now, leaving a trial of rejected, abandoned, and half-completed projects behind me!

Next cab off the rank: The Little Wasp, starring Pippin Took, Gene Hunt, Lucius Malfoy, and Captain Jack Harkness as played by Martha's mum.
