Mork and Mindy, mostly

I'm just finishing off the last scene of Wild Honey. Once that's done I'm going to write the remaining and sorely overdue beefics.

Jon got the portable air conditioner in the study working last night; all is ease and comfort.

Also have to cram in a few more episodes of Mork and Mindy so I can take back the DVD. Pam Dawber so deserves a medal - she really holds her own against Robin Williams. How embarrassing that I can still be touched by Mork's childlike nature as a cynical almost-40-year-old. His crazy friend Exidor was my favourite when I was a kid... there's something a little uncomfortable about returning to the show as an adult and thinking, "Hang about - this poor guy's an untreated schizophrenic!" Oh well, at least he's funnier than he was in Catalina Caper.

Mostly I find the show companionable rather than hilarious; however, the names of the Venusians in the last seconds of this clip made me laugh myself stupid.

There are certain homoerotic overtones into which I will not go here because I know you're all a bunch of perverts.

More Mork and Mindy

Mork made an umph! A disturbingly hairy umph. Shortly to be documented at euw_wit.

Mindy's grandmother, who spars with Mindy's dad (Conrad Janis, another medal-deservee), always calls him a "weiner", resulting in the fabulous line: "I have a bad case of weiner fatigue". Although the show's extremely, erm, family-oriented, occasional filth does slip through, as when Mork falls in love with a mannequin, tries to stand her up in front of him, and she starts going down to her knees. "No no!"

It's fun to see another alien character who knows as much about love and relationships as the Doctor. :-)

I'm busy rediscovering my Spike thing. Which is a weird thing - Mr Marsters is extremely fetching, but this isn't a crush, it's just that I'm a complete sucker for all that unrequited love / redemption stuff. WHAT A BIG GIRL'S BLOUSE.
