"There are many superficial generalisations that could be made about low-budget sci-fi, but one of the safest is that it holds little sex appeal for women. Doctor Who in particular is a series with many strengths - by definition, since it has survived all manner of shifts in television fashion to endure the span of 40 years - but in all his long history, the Doctor has rarely been an object of female lust."

OK, to be fair, the interview with David Tennant from The Observer is actually pretty decent, but he he he nonetheless. :-)

Who's he been talking to? *blushes*

Not me!

Whoops. She. Quote was from the interviewer -- whose name is Stephanie --from not the interviewee. So the above should have read "Who's she been talking to.

Those are the interviewer's words, not DT's. He's marvellously modest about his deliciousness. :-)

Hm. They need to talk to my mother, who watched ten seconds of the new series and complained that the new Doctor just wasn't as gorgeous as "the lovely blond one who was a vet".

...my roommate and I were just talking about how the Christmas Invasion seems to be a recap of the Black Orchid idea of "let's put the pretty Doctor in pyjamas for a whole episode!"

Also, this person clearly does not interact enough with female fans of low-budget sci-fi in general. I mean, hell, Red Dwarf...

Am I the only one who finds Jon Pertwee sexy? Hmm, maybe so. :)

But my mum had a huge crush on Tom Baker - which was the reason my childhood was so dominated by Doctor Who merchandise, IMO. In fact, she still goes a bit giggly over him (but only the 1970's version, not the Monarch of the Glen version).

Then there are the companions - all the strapping lads of the William Hartnell & Patrick Troughton years were obvious intended to appeal to the mums.

And, hello? Paul McGann, AKA The Sexy Doctor? The Snogging Doctor?

Why do they think women have been *watching* Doctor Who all these years?

Having said all that, DT is the cutest.

also, there's the bit where they don't think women have been watching Doctor Who before now...

(which boggles my mind a bit, but then again, I spent 20 years reading mainstream superhero comics, only to be told repeatedly that girls simply didn't do that unless their boyfriends/brothers gave them comics to read, and that I was a freak of nature for going off and getting addicted to them all on my own)

OMG -- Pertwee? Definitely sexy! Somewhere I've got some ancient pervy fic written with Jo going back and forth between JonDoc and DelgadoMaster. yum!

After all, remember that shower scene? The first Doctor to bare skin (and let us start all sorts of conversations about the meaning of that tattoo...)

"This Christmas, 34-year-old David Tennant replaces Christopher Eccleston..."

Oh, f**k.

[HEAD HITS DESK]

He's younger than I am. The first ever Doctor who's actually younger than I am.

[SFX: SOUND OF CHILDHOOD DREAMS FINALLY SHATTERING UNDER THE STRAIN THAT'S BEEN GROWING FOR 2 WHOLE DECADES]

I swore I'd never let that happen before *I'd* played the role!

F**kity-f**k-f**k-f**k...

ROTFLMAO! Who has she been talking to anyway?? I've managed to write at least a snogging scene with nearly every Doctor. (Okay, I just couldn't do one with Hartnell.) Ever since I first starting watching the Doctor (back in late 70s early 80s) my friends and I were oogling Doctors. *tsch*

If I can just block visions of Barty Jr. from my mind I should do just fine with DTDoc.

I dunno, Barty Jr was what convinced me that I think I'm gonna be liking this new Doctor. Damn shame the Leather Jacket Doctor was his predecessor. :-)

i'm wondering:

isn't he about to run out of regenerations?

he's getting younger each time, right?

this is going to get messy.

Giving my two cents as a gay woman :D

I think all the Doctors are attractive in their own ways. Smart is sexy after all.

And I admit I might just turn bi for number Seven LMAO
